Upon reaching Long Island Wine Country’s birthplace on Route 48, visitors are greeted with a message written on barrels placed on top of a truck declaring the Cutchogue winery’s proudest accomplishment — pinot noir.
Castello di Borghese describes this variety as “the jewel in our crown.” The winery is very proud of its establishment’s history, ongoing legacy and award-winning wines. It was named Long Island Winery of The Year in 2018 by Long Island Uncorked.
The winery also enjoys celebrating local artisans through collaborations and annual community events. Last December, Borghese served its award-winning 2015 Reserve Pinot Noir and Afterglow, a port-style dessert wine made from Cabernet Franc, with a five-course meal prepared by former North
Fork Table & Inn chef Stephan Bogardus at the James Beard Foundation dinner in New York City.
